The refurbishment would see the two-storey former clubhouse converted to a restaurant/kitchen, and an open plan venue with a capacity of approximately 250 people.
For this project, we chose to use Worcester Bosch commercial boilers (Condens 7000 WP) for heat generation, and installed a cascaded system to 130kW of heat input across a plate heat exchanger.
The system was designed to provide maximum performance whilst being extremely efficient. 700 litres of hot water was provided by way of two high-recovery hot water cylinders, split to allow higher capacity to the commercial kitchen, with the remainder to the restrooms and bar areas.
Heating was split over two circuits – one to each floor, with each heating and hot water circuit able to be independently controlled and isolated for maintenance.
Boiler controls were the Bosch 8000 series, comprehensive commercial controls allowing intelligent management of the boilers, pumps, and programmes. Heat curves are automatically adjusted thanks to weather compensation, allowing efficiencies to be made in all weather conditions.
Cold water storage and a booster set was also installed to ensure performance of the water supply. Booster pumps from DAB Pumps were chosen for their reliability and smooth operation, capable of delivering 260 litres per minute at 5bar.
For safety, a gas detection system was installed to maintain a safe environment and ensure safe operation of the plant equipment. It incorporated a shut-off valve to isolate the gas supply in the event methane or carbon monoxide was detected. As an additional safety feature, thermal fuses were also employed to activate the safety system should the temperature exceed 73 degrees Celsius.
All works were tested, certified, and handed over to the contractor.
